Cygnus Metals has commenced a comprehensive exploration program at its [Chibougamau Copper-Gold Project](/tag/chibougamau-copper-gold-project) in Quebec, designed to accelerate resource expansion following a 29% increase in reserves during the previous year. The initiative encompasses brownfields drilling campaigns at Cedar Bay and Golden Eye, targeting growth within existing mineralized areas, alongside greenfields exploration at the Joe Mann and Gwillim prospects to identify new discovery opportunities.
The exploration strategy incorporates multiple geophysical methodologies, including downhole electromagnetic (DHEM) surveys and induced polarization (IP) geophysics, to refine drilling targets and optimize resource delineation. Joint venture partner Alamos Gold is supporting exploration efforts at the Gwillim prospect, enhancing the company's technical capacity and financial resources for the multi-faceted program.
The phased approach reflects Cygnus Metals' commitment to organic resource growth through systematic exploration, building on the momentum established by last year's reserve expansion. The combination of near-mine and regional prospects positions the company to potentially deliver both incremental and substantial additions to its mineral inventory.
