Cygnus Metals has initiated a comprehensive drilling and geophysical survey program at its Chibougamau copper-gold project in Quebec, targeting expansion of existing mineralization and discovery of new mineral zones. The multi-faceted exploration initiative reflects the company's strategy to build on last year's 29% resource increase through systematic evaluation of its property portfolio.
The program encompasses several key components across multiple prospects. Downhole electromagnetic surveys are underway at Cedar Bay, while drilling operations at Golden Eye will test potential extensions of known mineralization. Additional exploration activities are planned at the Joe Mann and Gwillim prospects, with drilling at Gwillim benefiting from a cost-sharing arrangement whereby joint venture partner Alamos Gold will finance 50% of the work.
The coordinated approach combines near-mine exploration with greenfield evaluation, positioning the company to potentially unlock additional resource upside across the Chibougamau property. The involvement of Alamos Gold as a co-financier at Gwillim demonstrates third-party confidence in the project's exploration potential and reduces Cygnus's capital requirements for this phase of development.
