Advanced Micro Devices has secured substantial long-term commitments totaling approximately $420 billion in graphics processing unit deliveries, following a major agreement with Meta Platforms to supply 6 gigawatts of computing capacity. As part of the arrangement, Meta will also receive stock warrants in AMD, aligning the technology giant's financial interests with the chipmaker's continued growth in artificial intelligence infrastructure.
The Meta deal represents one component of AMD's broader positioning in the competitive AI accelerator market. Combined with a separate agreement involving OpenAI, the chipmaker now holds commitments for 12 gigawatts of GPU capacity, a figure that exceeds AMD's current annual revenue by more than tenfold. These contracts underscore the substantial capital investments major technology firms are directing toward artificial intelligence infrastructure, particularly for inference applications that support large language models and generative AI services.
The agreements position AMD to capture significant market share in data center GPU deployment, an area previously dominated by established competitors. Analysts point to AMD's expanding portfolio in both AI inference capabilities and CPU architectures as key drivers for future revenue growth, suggesting the recent stock price appreciation reflects broader confidence in the company's ability to fulfill these substantial long-term commitments.
